Princess Yachts
at the Southampton Boatshow

Brief

Extreme were asked to design and build an inviting, multi-tiered stand for this exterior show, reflecting the prestigious Yacht builder's boat interiors. The exhibition stand had to incorporate:

• five yachts, requiring craning into position
• an exterior meeting area with comfortable seating and tables for 30-40 persons
  
• an interior VIP meeting area
  
• three offices
  
• a fully working kitchen
• four containers containing brochures and equipment had to be incorporated and hidden from view

An important technical detail was that all the decks had to have a 5% incline built into them to allow water to run off, when it rained as it often does! The structure also had to withstand force 9 winds due to its water front location which frequently experiences bad weather.

Solution

The key structure was manufactured from steel mezzanine staging and heavy duty cross bracing, formed in and around the five yachts and containers.

A large marquee was placed to the rear of the stand to provide a sheltered, comfortable, water-tight construction for the VIP area and offices below. Within the VIP area, a bar and coffee area was built capable of serving refreshments to 70-90 persons in one sitting. A central reception desk on the top deck created a focal information point and aided to control the foot fall around the exhibition stand.
